What’s The Difference Between Black And Green Tea?

Black Tea ImageAnd does adding milk affect the anti-oxidants found in tea?

Green and black tea both come from the same plant yet look and taste different. Black tea is dried, then exposed to the air before being heated. Green tea is heated soon after picking. Each contains caffeine, the level depending on the time taken to brew the tea – the average caffeine content is 20-40mg per cup.

The anti-oxidants found in green and black tea are called polyphenols, believed to be important in reducing the risk of heart disease. It appears that adding milk to tea does not reduce the effectiveness of the anti-oxidants. Enjoy your tea between meals (as substances called tannins found in tea can interfere with iron absorption), with or without milk, or try it with lemon to boost its anti-oxidant potential.
